Hollywood Curl

Bouncy tresses with big curls and soft texture would add that vavoom to your look and is the major trend statement into 2012. Salon Studio by Kerry shows us how to create voluminous styles.

Janine has very thick, curly tresses that can be difficult to style. Thus, we washed and deep conditioned hair to soften and moisturize. We then added a conditioning curl cream and Awapuhi Styling Treatment Oil, before allowing her hair to dry naturally.

Pieces of hair were backswept and secured with bobby pins, allowing tendrils to cascade her hairline. Styling oil was carefully applied for a smooth finish (rub oil in hands before applying for best results).

Ringlets were smoothed with a curling iron to soften the upsweep, whilst additional loose ends were secured with hairpins before the look was set with Paul Mitchell Finishing and Shine Spray.

Janine went on to a second look with her very versatile and beautiful hair. The pins were removed and curls loosened by finger combing hair. An elegant bandeau was used to pull hair away from face.

Volume was added at the crown of hair and kept in place with Paul Mitchell Extra Body Spray. Curls were blended with a curling iron to create dimension with the variation of natural curl and iron-curled tresses. We finished with a healthy spray of Awapuhi Shine Spray and Paul Mitchell Finishing Spray.

Janine’s makeup was bold and strong just like her features. The turquoise and blue colors with added sparkle works with her copper tan and would be the attraction at any party. Make-up and accents courtesy Salon Studio.

Samantha has very long and somewhat straight hair. To prepare her mane we thoroughly cleansed and lightly conditioned the ends. The hair was blown out, using a large round brush, and Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam.

Her tresses were curled with a one-inch iron pinned in the direction of the curl, and sprayed with Paul Mitchell Extra Body Hair Spray before being left to set.

The hair was released thirty minutes later and brushed through. It was then sectioned and backcombed (hold hair at 90 degree angle and brush from under pushing towards the scalp, going along the whole length, starting from the ends going forward) to add volume and create a wave pattern, before being set in place with Paul Mitchell Hold Me Tight Hair Spray.

A touch of hair polish was finger applied to tweak ends, soften the curl, and smooth hair in the right direction. The look was finished with Awapuhi Shine Spray for an even distribution of sheen and extra conditioning. Extra hold was added with Paul Mitchell Finishing Spray.

Samantha’s look was complimented with luminous make-up in Hollywood glamour, comprising shades of pink and champagne, frost highlights, and rhinestone accents. Make-up and accents courtesy Salon Studio.
