.: Honey, we’re pregnant! - By Sarah Eniath :.

Pondering how best to break the great news to your honey? Here are some tips that you may find useful.Honey, we're pregnant!

1. Cook him dinner - You’re probably wondering what food’s got to do with it! Well, the idea is to use only miniature foods, or foods with the name ‘baby’ in them, such as baby carrots, baby corn, cherry tomatoes, baby grapes, and so on. In case he still doesn’t get it, have a gift ready for him after dessert: buy him a T-shirt that reads “Proud Father” and wrap it in baby gift wrap. Trust me, he’ll get it!

2. Hide and Seek - A fun way to tell your hubby that a baby is on the way. Hide your home pregnancy test and results somewhere in your home. Hide clues all over the house, which will eventually lead him to the test. Give him the first clue in his hand. This should lead to a second clue, which would lead to a third, and so on. Each clue can be accompanied by a cute baby item such as a rattle, diaper pin, rubber ducky or bib.

3. Send him flowers - I know it’s not usual for the woman to send the man flowers, but why not start a trend?! Send a big bunch of flowers, decorated with pink and blue ribbons, to his office. You can even opt to send him a huge bunch of helium balloons, all pink and blue. The card should read, “Congratulations DAD!” Let it be anonymous. He’ll call you immediately!

4. Daddy Kit - Go to the mall the day before. Buy a book for first-time fathers. Also purchase a few items that you think every father needs to be acquainted with, for example, a baby bottle and bib, diapers, wipes, baby powder, baby hair brush, and any other cute baby item you wish to include. At home, decorate a shoe box any way you like. You can use baby gift wrap, or use a theme such as yellow ducks, or lambs. Place all your items into the box (including your pregnancy test results), and print “Daddy Kit: what every dad needs” onto the cover. Present him with your gift right before going to bed that night.

How to tell the rest of the family:

If you already have kids, here’s a fun way to let your family know that another is on the way. Buy your kids cute t-shirts that read something like “I love being big sister/brother!” Next family B-B-Q you go to, let your kids wear them. Don’t say a thing...wait for someone to catch on!

They’ll love the surprise!
